June 9th, 2014: Please DO NOT give out any bad upreps/downreps. Give detailed explanations as to why you've repped someone in the comment box when you rep them. Because we cannot delete any bad reps at the moment (the database problem restricts our ability to delete specific reps, so we can only delete them all at once), anyone caught giving a bad uprep/downrep will receive a board warning. Thanks.

I just implemented a new feature for the forums that I've been talking about for a while - reputation.

Here's how it works. Someone makes a really good post - it can be an awesome level/episode/graphic, a really helpful post, a good argument in a debate, or anything like that. There's now a button on the right side of the post (by the user details) for increasing the user's reputation (uprepping). You can also decrease a user's rep (downrep) if they make a post that isn't good. If reputation decreasing gets out of hand (users downrepping other users just because they don't like them, etc.) then we will disable it and just have reputation increasing.

Reputation Rules:
Upreps-
1. Do not uprep a user simply because you like them.
2. Do not uprep a user that insults/flames/trolls a user you do not like.
3. Do not uprep a user for breaking the rules.
4. Do not uprep a user because they uprepped you.
5. Do not uprep a user simply because they were downrepped.
6. Do not ask for upreps, or for someone else to get upreps.
7. Do not uprep a user for reasons outside the forums.

Downreps-
1. Do not downrep a user simply because you do not like them.
2. Do not downrep a user because they downrepped you.
3. Do not ask or coordinate other users to downrep a user.
4. Do not downrep a user for reasons outside the forums.

Other:
1. Leave a well detailed comment explaining why you change the user's reputation along with how they
can change their posting habits (if needed) to make better posts.
2. Abide by all forum rules when making a reputation comment.
3. Do not make topics dedicated to yours or another user's reputation.
4. Report any reputations that you believe violate the rules.

To use the reputation system you must have interacted with the SMBX community long enough, to properly
make reputation decisions. You must have at least 100 posts, and a reputation level greater than or equal to 0.

...it should be easy enough to understand. The reputation system will be heavily monitored by the staff - if we catch too many people abusing the system, we will hand out warnings and bans.

Demo 2.1 is now finally released for my project.

The admins have the ability to review reps.

Also, "you're cool", "hi", and "lol" aren't reasons to increase someone's reputation. Please don't do that.

Not a bad addition, as long as it's used in an appropriate way. I don't wanna see a flood of downvotes for no good reason; I have a fear some people are going to misuse that. Hoping this will actually be monitored.

EDIT: How often can a user upvote or downvote the same user, is there some kind of limit?
